Overview
UniBHost ("we", "us", or "our") is a web hosting service operated by UNI-B Agency, based in Cameroon. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website unibhost.com or use our hosting services.
By using UniBHost, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information we collect automatically, and information from third parties.
Information you provide directly:
- Account information — your name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Billing information — mobile money number (MTN or Orange) used to process payments via CamPay. We do not store full card numbers.
- Service details — domain names, hosting plan preferences, support ticket content, and any other information you provide when using our services.
- Communications — emails or support tickets you send us, and our responses.
Information collected automatically:
- Log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited, collected when you access our website.
- Cookies and similar technologies — session identifiers and preference cookies (see the Cookies section below).
- Usage data — disk space used, bandwidth consumed, and other hosting resource metrics associated with your account.
Information from third parties:
- Google OAuth — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Payment processors — CamPay may share transaction status and reference numbers with us to confirm payment.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your hosting account.
- Process payments and send invoices.
- Provision and maintain your hosting services (cPanel accounts, domain registrations).
- Send transactional emails — account creation confirmations, invoices, payment receipts, renewal reminders, and support ticket replies.
- Respond to support requests and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized access.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Improve our services and website (using anonymized, aggregated data).
We do not use your personal data for advertising, profiling, or sell it to data brokers.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers — companies we use to run our infrastructure, including Verpex (server hosting), CamPay (payment processing), Google (optional OAuth login), Enom and Porkbun (domain registrars). These providers receive only what they need to perform their function and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements — when we are required to disclose information by law, court order, or government authority in Cameroon or another applicable jurisdiction.
- Business transfers — if UniBHost or UNI-B Agency is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- Delegated access — if you explicitly grant another user "Shared Access" to your account, that user can see the information included in the access level you chose (subscriptions, invoices, etc.).
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (such as currency selection). We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Session cookie — keeps you signed in during your browser session.
- Remember me cookie — if you tick "Keep me signed in", a 30-day token is stored.
- Currency preference cookie — stores your chosen display currency.
- CSRF token — a security token to protect form submissions.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling session cookies will prevent you from logging in.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
- Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes — we never store your plain-text password.
- Sensitive configuration values (API keys, payment secrets) are encrypted at rest using Laravel's AES-256-CBC encryption.
- All traffic to unibhost.com is served over HTTPS (TLS).
- Access to production systems is restricted to authorized administrators.
No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to any legal retention requirements.
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to certain types of processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@unibhost.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. After account closure:
- Billing records and invoices are retained for 5 years to comply with financial record-keeping requirements.
- Support ticket history is retained for 2 years.
- Log data is retained for 90 days.
- All other personal data is deleted within 60 days of account closure.
